Erkan Sanmak

Dr. Erkan Sanmak completed his medical education at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine. He completed his medical specialization at Istanbul Haydarpaşa Numune Training and Research Hospital in the field of Medical Microbiology and received the title of specialist doctor in this branch. Starting his professional career as a Microbiology Specialist at Mardin Training and Research Hospital, Dr. Sanmak took on critical roles especially during the COVID-19 pandemic process which affected the entire world. During this period, he drew attention with his work on the management of laboratory diagnosis processes, the establishment of PCR testing mechanisms, and field experiences. Dr. Sanmak, who also carried his academic and clinical accumulation to the administrative field, was appointed to a high-level position within the T.C. Ministry of Health as of 2024. He still serves as the Head of the Health Professions Department within the General Directorate of Health Services. He manages processes regarding the competencies of health professionals, certified training programs (SSEP), and professional standards.
